A SANCAI GLAZED ‘EGRETS AND FLOWERS’ BRUSHPOT, BITONG, KANGXI PERIOD
China, 1662-1722. The cylindrical body rising from a gently flared foot to a flat lip, the exterior molded with an egret standing on one leg in a lotus pond with large blossoms and leaves below a fluttering butterfly. Covered overall in green, amber, and straw-colored glazes.


Provenance
: Douglas J. K. Wright, London, United Kingdom. The private collection of a gentleman, acquired from the above and thence by descent in the same family. The base with two old labels, ‘1300 Kangxi,’ and ‘Douglas J K Wright Ltd 34 Curzon Street W1Y 7AE’. Douglas J. K. Wright is a renowned and well-respected auction specialist and London dealer in Chinese and Japanese works of art. During the early years of his career he worked for the auctioneers Glendining and Phillips, and also as a dealer, manager, and later owner of S J Tommy in Piccadilly Arcade. He later ran the Japanese department of Spink & Son before opening his own gallery, Douglas J. K. Wright Oriental Art.

康熙三彩《荷塘白鷺》筆筒


中國，1662-1722 年。 圓柱形筆筒，淺圈足。外壁淺浮雕一隻白鷺單腿站在荷塘中。荷花盛開，荷葉翻捲，其間一隻蝴蝶翩翩起舞。筆筒通體施綠色、琥珀色、黃色釉。
