A BRONZE ‘MYTHICAL HOUND’ WEIGHT, EARLY QING DYNASTY
China, 17th-18th century. Finely cast, the recumbent animal rests its front paws with its large claws on top of each other, curling its finely articulated tail next to its back legs. Cast with finely detailed hair down its head and neck, the ferocious hound bares its large fangs, with snarl wrinkles along its cheeks, and the back with a distinctively crenelated spine.


Provenance:
German trade.

Condition:
Good condition with expected old wear and some weathering, light surface scratches, small nicks here and there. The bronze is covered in a naturally grown chocolaty patina, and bears an unctuous feel overall, resulting from centuries of handling.

中國，十七至十八世紀。臥犬頭抬起並稍微向左轉，齜牙咧嘴，前爪疊放，頸部、脊柱、尾巴和腿部毛髮表現細緻生動，造型精巧。
