AN UNUSUAL BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER, EARLY QING DYNASTY
China, late 17th to 18th century. The bulbous body supported on three short legs with pronounced spherical feet and rising to an everted rim, the rounded sides set with a pair of openwork handles in the form of radishes with leafy tops, all in high relief and finely cast and incised.
Provenance
: From an English private collection and thence by descent.
Condition
: Very good condition with minor wear and casting irregularities, microscopic nicks, shallow surface scratches. The bronze with a fine, naturally grown, dark patina. The inside with extensive traces of use.
