This vessel for perfume oil is decorated with a large siren with outspread wings that turns her head to look back over her shoulder. Details of the wings, head and contours incised. One wing overlaps the upper frame. A few rosettes and hooks in the interstices. Striped, dotted and tongue frieze on the mouth plate, shoulder and base. Strap handle and reverse largely undecorated. Concentric circles on the base of the ring foot.
Partially misfired, glaze partially abraded. Small, retouched fillings on the rim of the plate mouth.
Swiss priv. coll., Basel-Landschaft. Previously French priv. coll. in the 2nd generation of Admiral M. T. (1934-1993).
