Daunian, Subgeometric 6th-5th cent. B.C. Clay, in part cream slip, dark brown matt glaze. H. 8 5/16 in; 21.1 cm
Bellied body on round base, flaring mouth, short loop handles. Pendant circle segments on interior of mouth. Metope-like frieze on shoulder with triglyphs and suspended triangles. U-shaped motif at the root of the handle. Horizontal bands.
Some surface losses on exterior; rim slightly worn. Monochrome ware.
Formerly estate of Hans-Ulrich Rutschmann, Switzerland, ca. 1950s-1970s.
