A Chinese Scroll Painting by Qiu Ying Wide:660cm Height:32cmQiu Ying (unknown year of birth and death), known as Shifu and Shifu, was born in Taicang (now part of Jiangsu) and later moved to Suzhou.Ming Dynasty painting master, one of the four schools of Wumen.[35] [38] Qiu Ying came from a humble background and initially worked as a painter who also painted pillars.Later, he switched to painting and met many contemporary masters in Suzhou.He was highly regarded by Wen Huiming and studied painting from the Zhou dynasty.In the eleventh year of the Jiajing reign (1532), Qiu Ying was invited by Wang Chong to write the "Garden Dwelling Map" for Wang Xianchen's Humble Administrator's Garden, which was highly praised.In the 16th year of the Jiajing reign (1537), at the invitation of Kunshan collector Zhou Fenglai, he sat in the museum for six years.In the 26th year of the Jiajing reign (1547), Qiu Ying painted at the home of the collector Xiang Yuanbian, and was able to witness the collection of over a thousand paintings by famous Song and Yuan masters.Through dedicated observation and hard copying, his painting skills improved greatly, and he eventually became famous in the art world with his exquisite and comprehensive talent, and entered the world of painting Being one of the four families of the Wu Clan.In the 31st year of the Jiajing reign (1552), Qiu Ying passed away.
