此炉宽边平口，口沿上有两立耳。口沿宽边，腹部出戟饰饕餮纹。下承四圆柱足。与清代大多数仿三代古铜器一样，形制和纹饰都有历史根据。此器仿周青铜鼎而造。明末清初之际，慕古之风盛行。商鼎周尊造型的器物开始出现在上层社会的装饰中，并成为文房清供之佳物。此件形制规整大方，稳重雅致，线条柔和而不失坚挺。
