串朝珠为老蜜蜡琢制，色泽温润，宝色内敛。全器共有108颗珠子，匀称饱满，色韵统一。在每27颗蜜蜡珠之间，有一颗较大的绿松石隔珠间隔，首尾相接处穿葫芦形绿松石佛头，下以黄色阔丝带系缀绿松石背云，下垂碧玺水滴形珠。背云两侧共有三串弟子珠，以紫色丝绦穿系绿松石小珠，下垂碧玺记子。按清《会典》规定，自皇帝、后妃到文官五品、武官四品以上，皆可配挂朝珠，朝珠虽然是装饰品，但一般官员和百姓不能随意佩带。对于佩带何种质地的朝珠，也有严格的区分和等级规定。皇帝佩戴朝珠，还根据不同的场合戴不同质地、不同颜色的，琥珀或蜜腊朝珠为祭地时戴用。
