此瓦砚为光绪壬午年（1882）王懿荣在成都与柯凤孙、邓文甫游集市时所得，庚寅年（1890）转赠表兄谢商衡（仲阿）后手拓数纸留存并分赠亲友。王懿荣（1845-1900），字正儒，莲生，山东福山人。近代金石学家，发现并收藏甲骨文第一人。清光绪六年进士，官国子监祭酒。尝从张之洞学，工书法，善训诂金石之学。八国联军入侵时，参与京城保卫，城破后投井殉国。谢商衡，福山人，光绪戊子举人。王谢两家为姻亲，王懿荣母亲为谢太夫人，继配夫人谢云鹤为谢太夫人侄女。王正孺、福山谢商衡字仲阿印
