传世明清香炉中，历来圆者多、方者少，方者样式主要见于马槽、台几。马槽炉是宣德炉中的一种，因创始于明朝宣德年间而得名。 马槽炉为方正耿直之器，一般铜炉均取「天圆」，唯马槽炉则依「地方」，恰为铜炉一族添了阴阳平衡。此件马槽炉端正小巧，起线利落流畅，长方口，口大底小，斜壁，狮首双耳，气势雄浑。原铜包浆，色皮古栗。马槽炉之形、色、款、质、工艺、样样上品，是文房案头小型铜炉可赏可玩的雅物。
