达摩，为中国禅宗始祖，于中国南朝梁武帝时期航海到广州，与宝志 禅师、傅大士合称梁代三大士。梁武帝信佛，达摩至南朝都城建业会梁武帝， 面谈不契，遂一苇渡江，北上北魏都城洛阳，后卓锡嵩山少林寺，面壁九年， 传衣钵于慧可，后出禹门游化终身。此尊达摩立像，大耳垂肩，圆眼阔鼻， 鼻头饱满，脑后头发、眉毛和胡须生动逼真。达摩身着袒胸广袖长袍，衣褶 自然流畅，下摆迎风而动，其挺胸赤脚，脚下水浪翻滚，水珠腾跃，刻划线 条有力，风灵意动，飘然洒脱。此件达摩立像很好的诠释了当时作品的风格， 由此可略窥时人之意趣、作品之风范。
