王大凡 （1888—1961），名堃，号希平居士，出生于江西波阳凰岗镇，祖籍安徽黟县，其父亲为王家耀，清末定居凰岗，生有王大凡和王大屏（王大凡哥哥，王锡良生父）及几个女儿。少时在姐姐家的“红店”学画陶瓷古彩，此时汪晓棠也在姐姐家的红店画粉彩，有机会接触到汪晓棠，拜晓棠大师为师。王大凡早年学习沙山春、钱慧安、费晓楼的绘画艺术，中年学习吴道子、陈老莲、马镜江的绘画技法，可谓转益多师，博采众长，制成法家。
