整体仿汉瓦形制,颇为古雅。背部两端触地,中间内凹。砚面平整,开长方一字敞池,与方形砚堂相连,砚堂坚实润滑,抚之细腻娇嫩。砚边宽阔,砚缘刻字“东坡端砚铭:千夫挽绠,百夫运斤。篝火下缒,以出斯珍。一嘘而泫,岁久愈新。谁其似之,我怀斯人。”出自苏轼的《端石砚铭》,用以咏颂端砚之美,端砚之精。刻纹精细而大气，笔力精湛,功力不凡。此件瓦形端砚石质细腻、滋润,石色古朴、深邃，整体造型仿古,颇具生趣。沿边刻诗文,以诗喻砚,深刻贴切,实为端砚精品,可宝可藏。
