釉里红折枝挂果纹荸荠瓶，其造型为荸荠瓶。“荸荠”即马蹄，这种瓶的形状类似于荸荠而得名。瓶身以釉里红装饰折枝挂果纹。釉里红是瓷器釉下彩装饰手法之一，创烧于元代。它是将含有金属铜元素为呈色剂的彩料按所需图案纹样绘在瓷器胚胎的表面，再罩以一层无色透明釉，然后入窑1350°C以上的高温还原焰气氛中一次烧成。
