这是一件直筒式笔筒，筒壁略矮，口径较大，胎质坚硬，胎釉结合紧密。全器为白地，筒壁主体纹饰为“指日高升图”，以斗彩绘秀石、芭蕉、庭院、围栏，院中设有长条石案、长方几案和红色琴桌，石案上置有木雕红如意，几案上置书卷、茶杯和插有孔雀双翎的瓷瓶，庭院内站立主宾人物6人及一个捧盘童子，其中一人立于石案前手指空中红日，预言主人官职高升，其他人物表情虔敬，眼中充满期待；笔筒为玉璧平底，中间露胎，内心为圆形白釉地。
