王步（1898年—1968年），字仁元，号竹溪，晚年所作青花瓷及中国画常署“陶青老人”，是江西丰城县人。他从事陶瓷美术工作长达六十余年，生平创作釉下、釉上、堆雕、刻花瓷器数以万计，尤精于青花。此件藏品描绘的是达摩渡江的故事，达摩渡江是佛教禅宗的一个著名传说，讲述了达摩祖师在中国传法过程中，因无法找到船只过江，于是折芦苇过江的故事。这个传说不仅体现了达摩的智慧和神通，也成为了禅宗文化的重要组成部分。
