蒋宝龄(1781—1840)、清代著名画家、诗人。江苏常熟人、后寓上海。海派创始人之一。工诗、善画。字子延、霞竹、少字有筠。号琴東逸史。山水法文徴明、松秀挺拔、清和闲逸。后得钱杜指授、用笔专尚生趣、以浑厚中见骨采、善兼容各家。此图以山谷、悬崖、古松、绿叶为背景、作衬托。其结构采用三段式、远景、中景、近景、各景用笔各异、设色浓淡不一、构图丰满、极具立体感、在桥上的撑杖老人用笔简洁、形象传神、是点睛之笔。整幅画给人以气势雄伟而又小桥流水、古松深处有人家的清和闲逸跃然纸上。是蒋宝龄画作中的精品。
