扳指以白玉雕成，玉质细腻洁白。以金丝镶红绿宝石，光素安静的玉质配以强烈、张扬的红、绿宝石。组成柔和的矛盾色，点亮富丽华美的异族魅力，具有典型的痕都斯坦风格。痕都斯坦位于印度北部，包括克什米尔和巴基斯坦西部一带，是由乾隆亲自考订的。当地玉器惯用纯色和阗玉，一色一器，追求玉质轻薄、装饰华美，有独特的西域特征。痕都斯坦玉器也可说是伊斯兰特殊玉雕风格工艺的产物。清代纪昀在《阅微草堂笔记》中记述:“今之琢玉之巧，以痕都斯坦为第一”。
