砚为端石，长方形，雕作书卷式，雕工细致，砚额浮雕金蟾、蝙蝠，乃“招财纳福”之寓。砚堂平坦，光亮，质极细，易发墨，雕工及材质均属一流。砚额下雕“书中金玉”，含寓了宋皇帝赵恒的“书中自有黄金屋，书中自有颜如玉”之名句；也可解释为：“书画之金玉墨宝”。（配红木盒）
