|此交椅用材丰硕，全身光素，只背板采用三截攒手法，上为浮雕螭龙纹，中部透雕麒麟葫芦，下为亮脚，起卷草纹阳线，可视为明代交椅的最基本形式。椅面软屉以丝绳编成。下有踏床。各构件交接处及踏床床面均用铁饰件加固。圆后背交椅在古代多设在中堂显著位置，是显示特殊身份的座具。明代书籍版画插图中，常有主角一人独坐室中，其余人等只能站立旁边的场面。俗语“第一把交椅”的说法，即阐明了交椅的尊贵地位。此椅雕工精美雅致，气势非凡，尤其在各榫卯交接处加以金属片包裹，具有良好的承受力。
