此件宋式锦以一正蟒为主题，金色火焰纹组成的圆形开光中织金蟒一条，张口鼓鬣，四肢矫健有力，上肢曲举，后肢双分，四围祥云环绕。其余纹饰是典型的“八达晕”。八达晕又称“八搭韵”，它以水平、垂直和对角线按米字格式构成图案的基本骨架，在线条的交叉点上设有各式花瓣形团花，框架内再填以精巧的如意花卉形纹。因线与线之间相互沟通，朝四面八方辐射，有“四通八达”之寓意。整幅画面布局饱满，富丽华美。参阅：《南京博物院珍藏大系·历代织绣》页153。
