本品在深色地子上以平金法满铺底形成一个大大的寿字，在金线上彩绣蝙蝠百只，取意“百福拱寿”。图中蝙蝠形态各异，各衔宝物，含义各不相同，如衔寿桃者，寓意“福寿”；衔铜钱者，暗喻“福在眼前”；衔葫芦者，谐音“福禄”；衔盘长者，意为“福长”，更有衔法轮、鱼、书卷、宝剑、蒲扇等等，不能一一赘述。彩蝠在金线衬托下显得色彩鲜艳，对比度强，寓意内外呼应，构思精巧，是一件难得的清代精品刺绣中堂。
