1st century AD. A bronze finger ring comprising a D-section hoop and flattened plaque, inset carnelian stud with intaglio 'clasped hands' motif. Cf. Ruseva-Slokoska, L. Roman Jewellery, Sofia, 1991, item 191 for type. 10.56 grams, 30.7mm overall, 21.3mm internal diameter (approximate size British X 1/2, USA 11 3/4, Europe 26.92, Japan 25"). (1 1/4"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition, hoop slightly distorted.
