Pair of Fine Large Chinese Ming Wanli blue and white porcelain phoenix tail vases. Finely potted in a baluster shaped form, with tall ovoid body, rounded shoulder tapering gracefully to a prominent straight neck below the flared rim, raised on a flat base. All decorated in Blue and white decoration depicted carps amidst underwater foliage. Banded on the shoulder, foot, and rim with repeating geometrical pattern. The body is decorated with Lishui water, seagrass, and other marine flora; Which makes up the habitat that the carp thrive in. The carp is accepted to represent longevity, wealth, abundance, and perseverance. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks, the receded base left white underglaze. Mark under the rim, a horizontal six underglazed blue script characters reign mark, enclosed within a rectangular frame, Made in The Years of Wanli Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
