清高宗乾隆好古，造办处的竹雕除了传统作品竹刻之外，也开始摹刻金石、金石文字，或雕刻古器物形制，仿青铜器的竹根雕器，为此一时期的重要成就。此炉由竹根雕成，由炉盖和炉身两部分组成。通体以浮雕镂雕技法作缠枝花卉装饰。整器竹根天然纹理尽现器表，又与纹饰相得益彰。底刻“乾隆年制”金彩款。
