Archibald Hartrick, A.R.W.S. (1864-1950)'Playing the Game War Work', 1914-1918A series of twelve colour lithographs on laid paper commissioned by the London Underground Electric Railway Company, each signed in pencil by the artist, comprising: Lift Girl, Lorry-body Maker, Shell Turners, Bus Driver, Women Fitters, Gatewoman, Bus Conductor, Signal man, Women Painters, Plate layers, Ticket Collector and Motorman, with title page in printed paper wrappers signed by the artist in ink and dated 18.Xii.191835.2 x 50.5 cm.Condition: Overall in good condition, paper wrapper wit bumped corners and two marginal tears to top edge, Ticket Collector with tear bottom right corner with loss to margin and corner of the surround of the main image. Collection of Christian Barman (1898-1980) and thence by descent. Examples of this series are to be found in the collection of the Tate, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Imperial War Museum.
