Handsome French C.1850 or earlier century game table with simple design and quality hand made workmanship. The table top is of walnut ,game board inlaid in the center with squares of walnut stained darker and natural fruitwood. A single rose either side inlaid with satinwood and tulip wood/poplar. An age crack seen in the center, not uncommon for the age of the table and offering no threat to the strength or construction.Top flips and swivels to open to a green felt playing surface outlined with walnut and rounded corners. The felt slightly lighter with age but in fine condition either original and protected or expertly replaced many, many years prior. One slight spot on the felt. The boxing bottom below the playing surface is comprised of two wide plank boards with one knot hole open. The lower portion of the table with scrolled apron and graceful legs is fruitwood. Due to the C.1850 or earlier age, minor worm holes are seen in small areas. Slight ring mark on the top and minor wear overall as described. Sturdy construction.Measures 29.5 H X 29 L X 14.5 D. Open measures 29 L X 29 W.Item ID: CJD37126
