(14) Chinese Export Porcelain Bowls Blue and White: a) 19th c. Qing Dynasty bowl painted with birds in a landscape, later Kangxi (1662-1722) mark on base; b) (4) Porcelain lids which match previous bowl, each painted with birds in a landscape, each with later Kangxi (1662-1722) marks on bases; c) (3) Porcelain rice pattern bowls, 2 with landscapes and one with flowers, each glazed CHINA on the base; d) (5) Porcelain rice pattern porcelain spoons; e) Porcelain spoon with temple painted in well. Dimensions are: a) 2 1/4 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches diameter; b) 3 1/4 inches diameter; c) 2 3/8 inches tall X 4 3/4 inches wide; d) 5 1/4 inches long; e) 5 3/8 inches long. All measurements are approximate. Condition: c) Two with hairline cracks from the lip, one with foot chip. Provenance: This item is part of the Slade family holdings of paintings, sterling silver and Chinese porcelain (see Oakridge Auction Gallery's March 14th auction, lots. 149 to lot. 155, which was a Chinese blanc de chine Dehua figurine of a robed Bodhidharma or Damo which sold for $416,000USD). The collection was assembled by three members of the family and then by descent to the present owner. The collection was begun by Henry Adolphus Warre Slade (1869 - 1936). He was a British businessman, member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (1908/09) and the Director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation between 1900 and 1902. The collection was added to by his sons, Royal Navy Commander Gerald Gordon Slade, who fought in both World Wars, and his brother Maurice Gordon Slade. The Slade family hold peerage and are noted in Charles MosleyÂs. ÂBurke's PeerageÂ.
