Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong Emperor Reign period amphora monochrome vase. Potted in a globular lower body, tapered gracefully toward straight tall neck leading to a slightly incurved rim, flanked with two archaic pattern handles on the neck, raised on a circle splayed foot base. The exterior masterfully covered in famille jaune design color an even coat of a deep green glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The green glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white underglaze. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze green concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a pale green. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design.
