SignedIt was a real pleasure being asked to take part in the Ray Key Collaboration and then choosing a piece of wood from Rays stock of rough turned blanks which I thought would make an interesting vessel.I first came across Ray in about 1990. When I started turning Ray was usually one of the main demonstrators at the large woodworking shows.Ray was a true purist. By that I mean his work was all about the wood and his chosen form without any sort of texture, colour or embellishment. My work on the other hand is more often than not all about adding texture and colour. This piece I think is a nice balance of Rays chosen wood (olive) and form and my texture and colour. This is a new texture I have been experimenting with recently. The colour was added using blue and yellow spirit dyes.I was really pleased with the finished piece .
