Chinese Qing 12 panel coromandel "birthday" screen the front wide carved with the festive birthday celebration of Tang Dynasty General Guo Ziyi seated in the Central Hall, guests and attendants converge bearing gifts in a lavish garden setting of ponds and pavillions. Enclosed within a border carved with flowers and scholar's objects. The back side with a lengthy dedicatory inscription. Signed, "Li Zhen Yu" and dated the "8th Month of 1690". PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Cathy Freeman Phillips, Dallas, Texas. Previously owned by aunt of the above, the late Jean Howard. Howard was a Hollywood actress, author, and entertainer to the stars.
