A maiolica syrup or wet drug jar mid 16th century, Delft or Antwerp, the ovoid body decorated in blue with a cartouche inscribed 'S. De. Bethonica' reserved on on a dense foliate round between gadrooned bands, the handle lacking, 23.3cm. Cf. Rudolf E A Drey, Apothecary Jars, p.120 for a similar example attributed to Holland.
