A wooden figure of a protective Zhongkui - most likely "Pantha the Younger: Vanquisher of Evil", carved from a single piece of wood (the base with a textured plaster coating). Pantha is depicted here in a dominant & victorious pose, as three viceful ogres cower around him, one clutching a large pot of alcohol. H: 24 1/4" (61.3cm) Condition: Mild fading & wear to the paint, a split in the base at the front, the figure may also have held a staff at one time.
