3rd-6th century AD. A rectangular bronze stamp with raised rim, Jewish symbols in raised relief, including a large seven-branched menorah on a tripod base at the centre, a shofar to the left, a lulav and shovel to the right; loop handle to the reverse. For a similar example see Christie's New York, sale 2755, 13 December 2013, lot 167, from the private collection of Michael and Judy Steinhardt [sold for US$47,500]. 93 grams 55mm (2"). Property of a Dutch gentleman; formerly in an old collection formed in the 1970s; accompanied by a metallurgic analytical report, written by Metallurgist Dr. Brian Gilmour of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford, report number 144614/HM614; this lot has also been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no. 144614-10009.
