A calcite cylinder seal with contest scene depicting a naked bull-man with an oversized eye and a wide belt, holding a bovine by a horn with his left hand, a gazelle by the snout with his right, both backwards turning quadruped in antithetical pose; further to the right, a naked hero with an animal head and a two-pointed cap (or ears?) turning to the right, embracing the gazelle on the left and on the right plunging a spear into the chest of a rampant lion with his left hand, a scorpion below; the stabbed lion crosses with a second, which attacks the aforementioned bovine, which closes the figure band. 18 grams, 25mm (1"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; collection number Y-91(?)3. Accompanied by a museum-quality impression.
