A bronze palstave axehead of Shelf Type, Trident Variant with substantial blade, thick triangular sides, lateral loop, rugged mid-stop and three raised radiating lines below, gently flared blade with rounded edge. Cf. Schmidt, P.K. & Burgess, C.B. The Axes of Scotland and Northern England, Prähistorische Bronzefunde, Ab. IX, vol. 7, Munich, 1981, item 875. 499 grams, 6.5cm (6 1/2"). Property of a Norfolk collector; previously in the Simon Camm collection; found near Stanshop and Ilam, Peak District, UK, before 2000; accompanied by a copy of a collector's information sheet.
