Translation provided by Youdao
9th-11th century AD. A base silver pendant in the form of a thin circular plate; the raised boss placed centrally with four radiating triangle stamps within a series of fifteen dot-in-triangle stamps and an outer series of roundel stamps; suspension loop above. 12.9 grams, 47.5 mm (1 7/8"). Property of a West Yorkshire collector; acquired on the UK art market. This form of pendant is known as 'scutiform' or shield-shaped because it was used an amulet for protection and resembles an Anglo-Saxon or Scandinavian shield.
