16th century AD. A mixed group of silver-gilt clothes fasteners including heart-shaped, fleur-de-lys, domed, lozenge, rectangle, wheel, trefoil and other types. 43.7 grams total, 14-27mm (1/2 - 1"). From a private Wiltshire jewellery collection; collection number 101, found Wiltshire in the late 1980s, recorded with Devizes Museum by Paul Robinson; 43, 47, found mid 1980s on the Thames foreshore, recorded with the Museum of London; 25, found Highworth, Wiltshire, reported to the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford; 108, acquired from a German dealer in 2010; 71, found in the River Avon at Salisbury in the mid 1970s; 132 found Wiltshire in June 1987 and reported Devizes Museum; 128 found Salisbury 1984 and reported to Devizes Museum; 26, 60, 61, 85, 79, 121,139, acquired on the UK art market in the 1990s.
