A silver Pannonia type brooch with simplified semi-circular head and a large corresponding projection at the centre; small moulded panel and plain catchplate to the foot terminal; spring and pin passing through a central projection to the rear of the brooch head. Cf. Hattatt, R. Iron Age and Roman Brooches, fig.28. 29 grams, 58mm (2 1/4"). Property of an Essex gentleman; formerly from an old English collection.
