Description
Translation provided by Youdao
The body of this high shouldered vessel is fluted and has a predominately floral design which is separated vertically by double red lines which mimic the indentations of the fluted style. It has a straight neck and spout, a fluted domed cover and a high arched handle. The handle appears to sprout from the arches of the vessel and cause the patterning of the vessel to shift from vertical to horizontal. These horizontal patterns predominately consist of geometric patterns alongside small floral vignettes. The vignettes on the vessel mimic those seen to encompass the fluted dome which is capped by a small organic pattern on the top which is meant to evoke the underside of the flower. The handle which sprouts from the vessel is painted a distinguishing light yellow and is meant to resemble the stock of bamboo The famille verte palette seen throughout this piece contains multiple shades of green, red, orange, purple, blue, alongside the same yellow used to highlight the handle. H: 6 7/8 in.(17.5 cm) Provenance: Ralph M. Chait Gallery New York Christie's 18-oct-17 sale 14963 Condition: In fair condition with restoration to the handle and spout
