Description
Translation provided by Youdao
A small Chinese plate dating back to the Kangxi dynasty. While the famille verte design of sea-life on the face appears singular, the medallion and scalloped lip are separated by a double red line line whose brightness and saturation contrast that of the pattern seen on the under-face of the plate. The sheer yellow based design of the under-face exemplifies the use of overglaze polychrome enamels which were popularized through the emperor’s contracted artist Liu Yuan, who worked for the emperor from 1678 to 1688. The underside features a Qianlong seal mark painted in the traditional underglaze blue style. D: 5 1" (13.1cm) Condition: The plate appears to be in good condition with exception to few small chip & repair that can be seen on the reverse face lip.
