This pair of delicate Qing dynasty vases appear identical in shape, color and decoration (with the second being only slightly larger than the other). Their shape and stylization appear to have a slight European influence, making their intended audience that much harder to decipher the vases has an elongated neck which gradually curves into the body, making it appear almost like a European bottle vase. It’s foot is the same diameter as it’s rim and is not distinguished from the body aside from 3mm strip of exposed bisque. It’s illustration depicts a bundle of vines, flowers, and grapes sprouting from a blue rock which sits on a grassy plane. While this rock is distinctly Chinese in nature, the peonies and background foliage appear almost reminiscent of European lace. This is largely due to their use of irregular alternating leaves who appear to weighed down by a force that cannot yet conquer the flowers which sit atop. Aside from this decoration, both vases have six blue markings on their underside. H:10 5/8 in. (27 cm) Condition: Appears to be in excellent condition with no sign of restoration or damage evident.
