Majestic, Chinese Qing Dynasty, Lapis Lazuli carved landscape table screen carved in a large rectangular shaped plaque. The Lapis Lazuli screen presents a carving in gilt of dense of shading forest trees, bamboo tree, Lishui water river, water plants, within mountainous landscape in deep relief, below scrolling ruyi clouds, alternately on verso panel, with correspondence panoramic carved in gilt. The lapis lazuli screen is brilliant blue with silver and golden hue inclusion adorned with colorful semi-precious stones is a masterpiece of workmanship. Elegantly came within an elaborately open work carved hardwood stand. The carving is exquisite and smooth, with lighter-grayish-white sporadic inclusions and moist milky appearance. Zitan is an extremely dense wood which sinks in water. It is a member of the rosewood family and is botanically classified in the Pterocarpus genus. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages.
