Famille Jaune varies in contrast to other forms of Chinese Famille pottery particularly in the way it is created using bisque. Instead of beginning with a drawn base, Famille Jaune is created by first firing the vessel before coating it in a yellow under painting. This yellow base typically contains light engravings that can be felt when one holds the object but barely seen. This bowl has a yellow coating throughout most of its exterior which is engraved in a swirling organic pattern which can be seen seen in the light and faintly felt like a fingerprint when held. Three Chinese symbols encompass the base (two blue, one red). These symbols are glazed on and occupy a white space within the sea of yellow, mimicking the curving rim which is devoid of color and exposes the smooth surface of the bisque. The foot however is coated in yellow and the bottom is marked with six symbols painted in red. D: 5 2" (12.7cm) Condition: In excellent condition with no damage or repairs observed.
