A LANGYAO GLAZED AND GILT-PAINTED BOTTLE VASE, QING China, 1644-1912. The vase with a long neck and a globular body on a circular foot rim, the cherry red glaze fading along the neck to a colorless glaze that continues onto the interior and covers the recessed base, the gilt painting above the glaze showing scrolls, lotus, dragons with lappet, ruyi, wave and key fret borders as well as the Eight Chinese Symbols (bajixiang). Condition: Single drilling to base, intentional crackling, some chipping to the foot rim and minor abrasions to the golf. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo- Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Weight: 2,492 g.
