A LACQUER-GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA, MING China, 1368-1644. Seated in padmasana on a double lotus base and showing the dhyana mudra, wearing simple robes with finely incised folds, the face well-cast in a meditative expression. Much of the original lacquer gilding has been preserved. Condition: Some losses as well as warping to the unsealed base, otherwise in excellent condition. Provenance: Swedish private collection. Weight: 1,430 g. Dimensions: Height 23.5 cm. Auction result comparison: Compare with a very similar but larger bronze, sold at Christie's New York for USD 74,500 gross on 22-23 March 2012 in Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art (Parts I & II), lot 1778.
