CLASSICISTICAL WRITING DESK MADE OF MAHOGANY ON SOFTWOOD AND LIME WOOD WITH CHERRY WOOD VENEER. Vienna. Date: Around 1800. Technique: Mahogany on oakwood, softwood and limewood, veneered. Parts veneered with cherry wood. Gilt brass mountings. Description: Rectangular top on four long, four-sided, pointed legs, which are strutted by a shelf. One drawer with leather-covered, slidable writing board. Underneath one large compartment as well as smaller compartments to its sides. The tabletop is framed on three sides by a narrow border. Measurement: 77,5x99,5x62,5cm. Mark: On the underside of the drawer paper label "Von Haupt A(?)mbt(?) Läger der Bürg Tischler meister in Wien 1800". Condition A/B. Restored condition. Literature: Gabriele Fabiankowitsch and Christian Witt-Dörring: Genormte Fantasie, Vienna 1996. See p.87, fig. 101, there a design drawing by Benedikt Hartmann from 1804 for a very comparable classicistic desk with similarly designed interior. Material: Mahagoni auf Eiche, Nadelholz und Linde furniert, tlw. mit Kirschbaum gegenfurniert. Vergoldete Messingbeschläge. Beschreibung: Rechteckige Form auf vier hohen Vierkantspitzbeinen, diese durch ein Ablagefach verstrebt. Ein Zargenschub, darin schiebbare, mit Leder bespannte Schreibplatte, darunter ein Schreibfach sowie seitlich kleine Fächer. Die nach hinten verschiebbare Platte ist mit einem Galerierand zu drei Seiten eingefasst. Maße: 77,5x99,5x62,5cm. Marke: Auf der Schubladenunterseite Papieretikett "Von Haupt A(?)mbt(?)
