Edward Burd (1749 - 1833) was a Revolutionary War officer in Pennsylvania, and later a Prothonotary of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He was a trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and the subject of a famous portrait by Charles Willson Peale. The document bears the seal of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and states that in 1792 Jonathan Williams Condy (1770 - 1828, who married Elizabeth Hopkinson 1772 - 1839, the daughter of Francis Hopkinson 1737 - 1791) was admitted as an Attorney of said Court, and is signed "Edw Burd".
