Henry M. Stanley "Through The Dark Continent" Volumes I & II, complete with both maps (Harper, New York 1879); original pictorial cloth bindings both loose and worn, maps found in rear pockets are both present and in good but heavily creased condition. Additional fold-out map also present and in good condition. These volumes chronicle the adventures and explorations of Henry Morton Stanley in the interior of Africa. Signed inside the front "O. Hopkinson from E.H." therefore these were likely a gift from Edward Hopkinson (1850-1935) to his father Oliver Hopkinson (1812-1905). From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives
