Bound in following the title page - A manuscript letter from Francis Hopkinson (1737 - 1791) to Clement Biddle (1740 - 1814). Signed by Francis and dated 1788, the letter is his ruling as Judge of the Admiralty Court of Pennsylvania pertaining to Biddle and the "Brigantine Santisima Trinidad". Biddle helped organize the "Quaker Blues," a company of volunteers. During the American Revolutionary War, Biddle fought in the Battle of Princeton, the Battle of Brandywine, the Battle of Germantown and the Battle of Monmouth. He was the Commissary General at Valley Forge under George Washington. After the Revolutionary War, he was the first U.S. Marshal for Pennsylvania. --- Complete in Three Volumes "The Miscellaneous Essays and Occasional Writings of Francis Hopkinson" (Printed by T.
